Fall 2021
Charlton Hill Lights Up this Fall
Charlton Hill is beautiful year round, even in the Fall when leaves are turning their magnificent colors. Summer might be over, but the work goes on to prepare our development for the months ahead. Highlights of changes include new exterior lighting that is in the process of being installed. New unit numbers and mailboxes will soon freshen the look of each condo. Kudos to the Design Committee for their supervision and attention to all these updates.
The annual meeting of the board of directors passed an expansive budget which includes repair and renovation of our pool. The pool has not had any major improvements and has needed an uplift for years. Depending on the weather, the pool will remain open until approximately SEPTEMBER 13. Thank you to the pool committee for keeping the pool clean and open all summer! Updates on the renovation will be posted. The current budget is posted to the CPE website and it is in the best interest of residents to carefully review it.
You will also see Southgate Landscaping in the development continuing to clean up, trim trees and add plantings. Exterior painting will begin on as many condos as possible before the cold weather limits the work.

Fall is the time of year to prepare gardens and planters in our patios. A fresh layer of mulch will protect plantings from any harsh weather. Trimming back shrubs and trees ensures blooming. One planter on entry stairs adds curb appeal.

All Politics Are Local Even in Charlton Hill!
Hamden mayoral race and other town elections are just around the corner. KRISTEN ZAEHINGER, one of our own residents, is running for the Hamden Legislative Council. Kristen is an excellent choice for the Council. As a partner in the Murtha Cullina law firm, Kristen handles a variety of corporate and individual clients in business and contractual disputes, compliances, ethics and employment law. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from George Washington University and received her law degree, Magna Cum Laude, at the Quinnipiac University. Kristen serves on the Hamden Democratic Town Committee, Issues and Ethics Committee. As a resident of Charlton Hill, Kristen is a former President of the HOA board. Let's all get out to vote on September 14, primary day, and later on election day, November 2, to support Kristen and our town!
Shining a Light on Local Businesses
The last year and a half was a difficult one for all of us. Businesses are still catching up. From time to time, this blog will feature some of Hamden's treasured businesses.
HINDINGERS FARM MARKET on Dunbar Hill Road has been a successful family owned business in Hamden since 1893. Keeping it all in the family, Anne Hindinger, often seen checking out customers, runs the retail market along with daughter, Liz. According to Anne, son George declares that he is the farmer in the family!
Some Charlton Hill residents may have even gone to Hindingers as kids for the Strawberry Festival, to see the goats while loading up on apples and pumpkins. Hindingers' Fall Festival will be held on October 3. www.hindingersfarm.com
